At LBDL, we are committed to making science research as accessible to the public as possible. Our lab members are involved in developing outreach projects for the public, both within the lab and through department and university organizations, like NUCLEUS. We believe that researchers have an obligation to teach our community members about our work, since our research would be impossible without our community members’ support.
We are also committed to increasing the representation of historically underrepresented groups in science research careers. The lab strives to develop mentorships with students who are interested in science at every stage, especially with those students who might not have the support otherwise. We have also established partnerships at local high schools to encourage excitement about science.
